Fall House Plant Care

FALL HOUSE PLANT CARE

Fall is the time to start thinking about bringing house plants indoors. It is important to help plants become acclimated to indoor growing conditions before freezing weather begins and before the indoor heat is turned on.

Plants should be placed in a sheltered location, such as a shed or covered patio for a time before they are brought into the house. Look each plant over carefully and discard dead leaves and blooms. The outside of all pots should be scrubbed thoroughly with a stiff brush and water. Be sure all plants are free of any pests, such as aphids, mealybugs, or red spiders. If pests are present, spray well with an all-purpose insecticide containing malathion. Remember, the plants will require time to adjust to indoor growing conditions.
