Sandea Approved For Use On Watermelons!

ver the past 5 to 10 years, perhaps the most-often asked question I have received is: “How can I control nutsedge in my melons?”

Up until now, I did not have a good suggestion to offer. However, Gowan Chemicals has been awarded a label for the use of its product ‘Sandea” (Halosulfuron-methyl) on watermelons and other cucurbit species.

Work conducted in the Lower Rio Grande Valley by Texas Cooperative Extension found Halosulfuron-methyl to be highly effective in controlling both yellow and purple nutsedge. Therefore, if you have had a problem with these weed species as well as other broadleaf weeds, you might want to try Sandea.

Remember to read and follow all label instructions. Improper use can cause serious crop injury.
