Here is a great way to use some of the new cool-season vegetative annuals for early spring sales. Plant species suitable for “Easter Baskets” are some of the fastest-growing and sweetest-smelling of all the new vegetative annual materials out there. They don’t compete well with warm season plants in summer, but when mixed with each other you can produce some really nice spring products. Started in late January they are marketable for Easter sales. Market them as “Easter Baskets” or “Living Bouquets” and letting customers know they are spring-blooming, cool-temperature loving plants in nature and will last about eight weeks until the summer heat sets in. Instruct them to bring them inside on a below-freezing night.
