There are many benefits to horticultural therapy. The following are just a few benefits:

Physiological Benefits - People can gain strength, physical exercise and benefit from the sunshine and fresh air.

Psychological Benefits - Horticulture therapy allows encouragement, confidence and self esteem building.  Group therapy also has the added benefit if developing social skills.

Recreational Benefits - People of all ages enjoy gardening and can benefit from the joys of gardening.

Cognitive Benefits - Stimulation of cognitive development can be achieved through a Horticulture therapy program.  Horticulture therapy can teach number concepts through repotting cuttings and sowing seeds.  Plant terminology can expand vocabulary.

Vocational Benefits - People can learn gardening as a useful skill to acquire gainful employment.
