Thornless blackberries

Introduction     Varieties

Several varieties of thornless blackberries have been grown across the Texas Hill Country.  'Arapaho' and 'Navaho' are perhaps the most consistently productive of the thornless varieties.  Unlike thorny blackberries, crop loss to birds is a major concern with thornless varieties.  In addition, thornless blackberries appear to be sensitive to insufficient chilling following mild winters.
