Basye's Purple Dr. Robert Basye created several disease resistant roses in his lifetime. However, none are more striking in color than this rose. It is without a doubt the richest, deepest purple we have ever seen in a rose. The bush exhibits all the characteristics of a typical Rugosa rose (a high rate of disease resistance, thick leaves, etc.) with the added bonus of blooming continously even through our tough Texas summers. This rose is so deeply pigmented that "pigmentation spots" even apear on the leaves. Basye's Purple was created by a cross between R. folialosa and R. rugosa rubra.
