Conference Overview

The 14th biennial National Pepper Conference will be held at the San Antonio Marriott River Center in San Antonio, Texas October 13-15, 1998. The hotel is part of the Marriott group of hotels and is located adjacent to the River Walk in the heart of historical downtown San Antonio.

Registration will begin at 4:00 pm on Tuesday October 13 in the conference hotel and will be followed by a welcome reception at 6:00 pm. A day tour is scheduled for Wednesday October 14 and will include tours of processing plants in the San Antonio area and the pepper demonstration plots. Formal conference sessions (oral and poster) will begin 8:00 am on Thursday October 15. Abstracts from presentations will be published in the conference proceedings. The conference will conclude with a banquet Thursday evening served with all the excitement and tradition that San Antonio is famous for.

Demonstration Trial

Interested seed companies and university breeders can enter pepper varieties in a demonstration trial that will be part of the tour on Wednesday, October 14. A call for papers will be issued in February 1998 through this website and from a mailing. More details regarding papers will be forthcoming in the near future.
