Tomatoes are fruits but most will call them vegetables when asked. They are botanically berries. Tomatoes exhibit great genetic variation, from the small fruited cherry types to the larger fruited fresh market types commonly used for slicing. A special type with a low water content (processor type) is used for making juice and sauces.
