Participation: Class participation in the form of discussion is both encouraged and expected. Participation may help boost a student’s grade if he/she is near the border of a letter grade.

Attendance will likely affect your grade. You cannot put off field work until the last minute and then work extra hard to get it into shape. If you do not regularly work on your plots, it will show and it will be reflected in your plot grade. It is critical that you attend all lectures. Exams are based on what was actually covered during lecture, not based on the course outline. You may or may not be instructed to bring in outside materials for the exams.
