This course has been taught since 1906 on the College Station Campus. It was first taught by Dean E. J. Kyle, then by Prof. Fred R. Brison and, from 1965 to 1999 by Dr. J. Benton Storey. The new instructor is Dr. Leonardo Lombardini, who joined Texas A&M in June, 2002.

Since this course was first taught, hundreds of students have been introduced to pecans and nuts and have made their contributions to future generations by planting, managing, and producing rich harvests of golden nuggets that have enriched their lives and the lives of those who have enjoyed the fruits of their labor.
