Usefulness of FramesThe primary advantage of frames allows the designer increased control over page layout. Menu bars can remain on the top or side of the page whether the browser stays in the site or follows a link to an outside site. Not everyone is a fan of layouts controlled by frames. Jakob Nielson's article Why frames suck (most of the time) explains the drawbacks of frames.
