The purpose of the Horticulture Hall of Fame is to recognize and honor those individuals who have made a significant and lasting impact on the teaching, extension and research mission of horticulture in the Department of Horticultural Sciences at Texas A&M University.
Horticulture was one of the first majors at Texas A&M University. Thus, Texas A&M University is entering its third century of graduating horticulture majors. Horticulture at Texas A&M University has been its own department and combined with other departments over the last century. The current Department of Horticultural Sciences was formed in 1976. Through its strong teaching, research and extension programs, the Department is committed to the future by preserving its tradition of training leaders for the horticultural industry.
Many individuals have been instrumental in the success of horticulture at Texas A&M University. The Horticulture Hall of Fame has been established to recognize and honor those individuals who have given of themselves unselfishly to support the teaching, extension and research mission of horticulture at Texas A&M University.
